Teacher, child drown in Eastern Visayas

A 25-YEAR-OLD teacher and a five-year-old child were found dead after they allegedly drowned in separate incidents in Can-avid, Eastern Samar and Ormoc City, Leyte Saturday, September 4, 2021.

Jewel Aseo, single and a resident of Barangay 8, Can-avid, was declared missing around 12:30 a.m. Saturday before his lifeless body was found at the foot of the river in the Long Bridge of Barangay Canteros of the said town.

Authorities have investigated the incident.

In Ormoc City, police identified the victim as a kindergarten pupil who went swimming in the beach together with other children around 10 a.m. Saturday.

The family started to search for the victim when the child did not come home for lunch, police said in the report.

The body was found around 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the beach which was just adjacent to the victim’s house.

Police said no signs of foul play were observed in the child’s death. (SunStar Philippines)
