TWO Abu Sayyaf bandits have surrendered amid the intensified government offensive in Sulu, officials announced Thursday.

Colonel Gerry Besana, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) information officer, identified the surrenderers as Jum-Amri Sali alias Pujong, 27, and a certain Abu Sibih.

Besana said Sali surrendered on Tuesday to the Marine Battalion Landing Team-3 (MBLT-3) in Seit, Panamao, Sulu.

Sali, whose father is also a former Abu Sayyaf member, is a follower of one-armed bandit leader Radulan Sahiron. He turned over a Garand rifle.

Sali’s father, Basari, surrendered to authorities last February 10.

Besana said the surrender of Sali was facilitated by the MBLT-3 headed by Lieutenant Colonel Ramil Holgado, the local government of Panamao, and officials of Bulangsih headed by village chairman Alnajar Abdulhan.

Abu Sibih also surrendered on Tuesday to the troops of the Army’s 21st Infantry Battalion in Danag, Patikul, Sulu.

Sibih, a follower of ASG sub-leader Idang Suskan, decided to surrender amid the continuous focused military operation, Besana said.
