THE Air Asia Philippines is set to open two flights daily for Zamboanga City to Manila starting March 15, this year.

Lawyer Joseph Castillo, Air Asia chairman of the board, said it’s his company decision to open this new destination “because of its firm belief in the leadership of the city under Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar and Vice Mayor Rommel Agan.”

“We believe in the plans and programs of the city that it is one of the leaders in Mindanao that can push for economic development in this part of the region,” Castillo said.

He said that they, at the Air Asia, have seen the development indicators in Zamboanga City grow consistently.

“It’s a market we cannot miss, knowing the increase in the volume of airplane passengers here,” he said.

He said the company will serve Zamboanga-Manila route via an 8320 aircraft, a low-cost carrier, with a capacity of 180 passengers and a single class accommodation.

He added that the company also commits safe and reliable services, and cheaper fares. (SunStar Zamboanga)
