Businessman nabbed in anti-drug operation

A BUSINESSMAN was arrested in an anti-drug operation by operatives of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) in Zamboanga City, an official said Wednesday, March 18.

Police Major Elmer Solon, ZCPO’s Police Station 11 chief, identified the arrested suspect as Hamja Asmad, 40, a businessman and a newly-identified drug personality.

Solon said Asmad was arrested in a drug bust around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Baliwasan Village.

He said recovered from the possession of the suspect were some P30,000 worth of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride), P200 marked money and a pack of cigarette.

He said the suspect was detained while formal charges are set to be filed against him. (SunStar Zamboanga)
