THE City Government in collaboration with the University of the Philippines-National Center for Transportation Studies (UP-NCTS) spearhead a day-long transport summit in Centro Latino Wednesday in Zamboanga City.

Acting Mayor Rommel Agan said the summit is in preparation for the formulation of a comprehensive transport and traffic management plan and other complementary plans for this city.

Agan said the summit, attended by the different sectors of this city, was a form of public consultation and was part of the data collection exercises being conducted by the UP-NCTS, the agency commissioned by the local government to prepare the Comprehensive Transport and Traffic Management Plan 2019-2033.

Agan cited the significance of the activity stressing that consulting all sectors is very vital to ensure an all-encompassing transport and traffic management plan.

He said the City Government is aggressively pushing for the formulation of the plan and its consequent implementation in view of the mounting traffic problems besetting the city.

The plan specifically seeks “to address the mobility needs of both people and goods within Zamboanga City based on the principle that the transportation system is safe, reliable, accessible, dependable, efficient, comfortable and environment-friendly.” (SunStar Zamboanga)
