Construction foreman kills militiaman

A MILITIAMAN was killed by a construction foreman in a province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Sunday, August 9, 2020.

The Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office identified the fatality as Jimmy Cane Laruscain, 43, a militiaman under the Army’s 53rd Infantry Battalion.

The police said that Laruscain was allegedly shot and killed by Nissan Tubigon Uba, 48, following a heated altercation around 5:45 a.m. Saturday Purok Lapu-lapu Commonwealth village, Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur.

The police said that a heated altercation ensued between the protagonists Laruscain asked Uba for a copy of his photograph, which the latter refused to give to the former.

At the height of the altercation, Uba allegedly shot Laruscain repeatedly which resulted in the death of the militiaman, the police said.

The suspect fled towards the direction of Monte Alegre village, Aurora, after the incident, the police said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
