Cop dies in highway accident

A POLICEMEN was killed in a highway accident in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, an official said.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the fatality as Corporal Dios Rean Tinay Lozano, 29, of the Zamboanga Sibugay 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company.

Duco said Lozano died in an accident around 8:50 a.m. Monday, March 1, at the national road in Pangi village, Ipil, the capital town of Zamboanga Sibugay.

He said investigation disclosed that prior to the accident, Lozano was driving a motorcycle en route to Pangi village from the town center of Ipil.

He added that upon reaching Pangi, Lozano was ran over by a 10-wheeler truck after he bumped on a motorcycle ahead of him and slumped into the pavement.

Lozano was declared dead on the spot by the responding emergency medical team of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office. (SunStar Zamboanga)
