Environmental summit set in Zamboanga

THE Zamboanga City Environmental Summit will reel off Wednesday, March 11 at 8 a.m. at the Marcian Convention Center Canelar as part of the city government’s strategies on environmental protection.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said the summit highlights the local tangible environmental issues that include the recently approved local environment code, conservation of biodiversity in protection of forest, coastal areas and island’s ecosystems, including the challenging urban concern on solid waste management.

Salazar said the summit will include the presentation and unveiling of the manuscript of the city’s developed “Biodiversity Management Framework” design to enhance the LGU shared responsibilities for the sustainable use, equitable delivery of benefits and ecological services arising from biodiversity conservation.

It will be held in in collaboration with Tanggal Kalikasan, a public interest Environmental Law Office through its United States Agency for International Development (Usaid)-Partnership for Biodiversity Conservation Program. (SunStar Zamboanga)
