Ex-cop nabbed in anti-drug sting

A FORMER policeman and a jobless man were arrested in two separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City, the police said Wednesday, October 23.

Police Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, identified the arrested suspects as follows: Jason Guerra, 29, jobless; and Jun Sahibul Ausad, 48, a policeman who went on absence without official leave (Awol) since 2016.

Martir said Guerra was arrested in a drug bust by the operatives of ZCPO’s Police Station 9 around 1:10 p.m. Tuesday in Cawit Village.

He said Guerra was caught in possession of some P3,000 worth of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) packed in five heat-sealed plastic sachets and P500 marked money.

Martir said Ausad was arrested by ZCPO’s Police Station 5 personnel around 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lemon Drive in Baliwasan Village.

He said recovered from Ausad were some P4,000 worth of suspected shabu packed in five heat-sealed plastic sachets and P300 marked money.

The police official added that appropriate charges are set to be filed against the suspects, who were detained. (SunStar Zamboanga)
