THE City Health Office continues to advocate for regular search and destroy activities to fight dengue in Zamboanga City.

Dr. Dulce Miravite, city health officer, has urged residents to make a habit of finding and clearing out potential breeding places for mosquitoes every day as part of the “4S” campaign advocated by health agencies versus dengue.

The “4S” campaign stands for Search and Destroy, practice Self-protection, Seek early consultation, and Say no to indiscriminate fogging.

The local government, through its anti-dengue initiatives made by the City Health Office, puts emphasis on efforts to remove mosquito breeding sites which are commonly found in areas with stagnant water.

Miravite said dengue cases in this city have hit 4,000 with 26 deaths recorded.

This prompted the City Health Office to intensify its anti-dengue initiatives, partnering and coordinating with the Department of the Interior and Local Government to implement measures in the villages.

Advocacies include the “4S”, the 4 o’clock habit, the Action Barangay Kontra Dengue, and the Den-Get Out campaign. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
