PERSONNEL of the local police Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) have arrested a Japanese national and his companion in a drug bust Thursday, January 17, in Zamboanga City.

Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Luis Licup, Police Regional Office Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested suspects as Hiroyuki Takahashi, 59, a businessman; and Mary Jane Huerto, 43.

Licup said the two were arrested by the DEU of Police Station 6 around 11:05 p.m. Thursday in the village of Tetuan.

Licup said confiscated from the suspects were four sachets of suspected shabu, or methamphetamine hydrochloride, and P200 marked money consisting of two P100 bills.

He said the suspects were detained at the Police Station 6 headquarters while appropriate charges are set to be filed against them.
