Village official falls from cliff, dies

A VILLAGE official of Malasay, Katipunan town died after falling into a 150-meter high cliff in a remote area in Zamboanga del Norte province, the police said Wednesday, September 19.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said Rolan Lumon, 31, died instantaneously due to severe injuries.

Galvez said the incident occurred around 2 a.m. Tuesday at Sitio Salwagan in Baluc village, Katipunan.

She said Lumon lost his balance and fell towards the 150-meter high rocky cliff while the official and his brother-in-law, Sannyboy Sumampon, were on the way home from fishing at a nearby river.
