NPA surrenderer nabbed in law enforcement operation

GOVERNMENT operatives have arrested in a law enforcement operation a New People’s Army (NPA) surrenderer in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported.

Police Major Shellanie Chang, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested NPA surrenderer as Sylvia Cordesar Edo, 27, who surrendered in April.

Chang said Edo was arrested in a law enforcement operation by way of service of warrant of arrest around 10 a.m. Tuesday in San Pablo village, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur.

She said Edo had a standing warrant of arrest for the crime of attempted homicide with P36,000 recommended bail issued by the court of Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur.

Chang said Edo was temporarily detained at Dumingag Municipal Police Station for documentation and proper disposition. (SunStar Zamboanga)
