P273,000 illegal drugs seized, ‘big-time’ suspect nabbed

AN ALLEGED big-time drug suspect was arrested, while some P273,600 worth of illegal drugs were seized in an anti-drug operation early Wednesday, September 8, 2021, in Zamboanga City, a top police official announced.

Police Brigadier General Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested suspect as Fahad Sabtal, 23, a resident of Faustino Drive in Mampang village, this city.

Ylagan said Sabtal was arrested by the Zamboanga City Police Office’s (ZCPO) Station 7 operatives headed by Police Major Albin Cabayacruz in an anti-drug operation around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in Sitio Talungun, San Roque village, this city.

Seized from Sabtal were some 27 grams of suspected shabu worth P183,600 and 750 grams of dried marijuana leaves worth P90,000, a backpack and P500 marked money, according to Ylagan.

He said the suspect was detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is being readied against him.

He said Sabtal was under surveillance for several days and the anti-drug operation was launched after it was confirmed the latter in into the trade of illegal drugs.
