AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) have arrested an alleged member of a drug syndicate in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, a PDEA official said.

Lawyer Jacquelyn De Guzman, PDEA-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested suspect as Boy Niño Eslit alias Jboy Eslit, 26, a resident of the village of Cawa-Cawa, Dapitan City.

De Guzman said Eslit was arrested in a drug bust at 10:05 p.m. Friday at the Cage Gym parking lot, Gloria de Dapitan in Dawo village, Dapitan City.

She said Eslit is allegedly a member of the drug syndicate, which operates in Dapitan and neighboring towns in Zamboanga del Norte.

The PDEA official said seized from the suspect were two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu and P500 marked money.

Cases for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied to be filed against the suspect, De Guzman added. (SunStar Philippines)
