Shipment of P7-M smuggled cigarettes seized

JOINT Coast Guard, military and police team have seized some P7 million worth of smuggled cigarettes in Zamboanga City, an official said Tuesday, November 13.

Lieutenant Commander Noriel Ramos, Zamboanga Coast Guard Station commander, said the cigarettes were seized around 7:30 Monday aboard a passenger-cargo ferry that just arrived at the local port from Jolo, Sulu.

Ramos said the smuggled cigarettes were concealed at the cargo deck of M/V Maria Rebecca.

He said the confiscated cigarettes consisted of 200 cases of banned tobacco products comprising of 150 cases of “LS” and 50 cases of Fort cigarettes with an estimated worth of P7 million.
