Town councilor killed

THE police in Zamboanga del Norte have been ordered to conduct an in-depth probe into the killing of a town councilor.

Police Brigadier General Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula, issued the order following receipt of report that Councilor Ernesto Bihag Jr., of Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte, was shot and killed Monday, September 27.

Initial investigation showed that Bihag was driving his vehicle when repeatedly shot by a gunman aboard on another vehicle that overtook him around 12:50 p.m. Monday, September 27, in Comunal village, Liloy.

Bihag was traveling from the village of Causwagan to Comunal at the time of the incident.

Ylagan said Bihag was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician. The official suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

The gunman’s vehicle sped off to unknown direction after the incident.

Ylagan ordered the police in Zamboanga del Norte to look into all possible motives in the incident. (SunStar Zamboanga)
