Westmincom, Tesda conduct defensive driving training

A TOTAL of 37 personnel of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) are undergoing a 15-day National Certificate-2 (NC-2) defensive driving training in Camp Navarro that houses the Westmincom headquarters in Zamboanga City.

Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana, Westmincom chief, said the training which started Monday, September 30, is being conducted in collaboration with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Zamboanga regional office (Tesda 9).

Sobejana said the participants of the training are organic personnel of Westmincom comprising of officers, enlisted personnel, and civilian employees, who have no knowledge in driving, specifically the four-wheel vehicle.

Sobejana said the 15-day training consists of two phases - three-day classroom instruction and 12-day actual driving lessons.

“We continuously engage our personnel in various training in order to elevate learning and to efficiently operate our equipment and resources,” he said.

He added that by enhancing their skills and abilities, Westmincom can easily adapt to any challenging situation that may arise in its area of jurisdiction. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
