SOME 558 families and members from different sectors affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in Zamboanga City have received financial assistance from the City Government.

The City Government has rolled out the Local Social Amelioration Program (LSAP) to provide financial assistance to families and workers affected by the pandemic.

Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said 170 of the 558 recipients of LSAP are families hardest hit, including survivors of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Salazar said the remaining 388 recipients of LSAP are child development workers, barangay nutrition scholars, barangay health workers, barangay population volunteers, village watchmen (tanods) and barangay intelligence network.

Each of the Covid-19 survivors who suffered mild to moderate symptoms received P3,000 while P5,000 each for those who experienced severe symptoms.

Meanwhile, those who belong to other sectors hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic also received P1,500 each of the LSAP.

They included workers in the event industry, barbershops, musical industry and other daily wage earners.

Salazar said funds for the LSAP come from the City Government’s supplemental budget that was approved earlier this year.

She said the LSAP payout will continue until all those entitled to the financial assistance will receive the cash aid due them.

“El ayuda na tiempo de pandemia ay continua para na comida, curada y busca vida del maga residente,” she said.

(The assistance for food, health and livelihood of the residents will continue amid the pandemic.)
