THE Zamboanga City Government, through the Office of the City Agriculturist and the Office of the City Veterinarian, is preparing a learning summit for food producers and stakeholders in line with its advocacy for food security.

Carmencita Sanchez, OIC city agriculturist, said the activity will be a food summit for sustainable food security in this city.

Sanchez said they expect the summit to generate some 120 participants from the food sector and that local and national government agencies as well as producers, farmers, fishermen, wholesalers, traders, and suppliers will also be invited to participate.

She said the summit will have presentations during a half-day plenary session on various commodities, which will include rice, corn, high value crops, fish, and livestock.

She added it will be followed by a presentation of the food security plan for Zamboanga City and breakaway sessions for participants to discuss issues and concerns and to come up with resolutions to address the identified needs of the sector.

The summit will be anchored on the theme: “Sustainable Food Security for Zamboanga City.” (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
