500 gun ban violators nabbed

MANILA -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) was able to arrest 516 violators since the beginning of Commission on Election (Comelec) imposed gun ban last September 25.

The police force also collected 440 firearms, 23 explosive devices, 112 weapons and five gun replicas in almost one month of implementation of the gun ban for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan polls this October 25.

PNP Chief Raul Bacalzo reiterated that 24-hour checkpoints will be implemented to ensure the security of the people.
