THE “bayanihan” spirit is alive in Barangay Jerusalem, Cadiz City.

Proving this are the farmer-members of Jerusalem Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Association (Jarba) who made and distributed some 50 masks to health workers in their barangay.

Jarba is a farmer-beneficiaries organization assisted by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental - North.

Its members pulled up their available resources to craft masks and distribute them to some of the frontliners during this coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

These masks, an essential personal protective equipment (PPE), were turned-over to Barangay Captain Jimmy Diosana along with the midwife and health workers of the barangay on Monday.

DAR-Negros Occidental I, in a statement, said in the middle of the fight against Covid-19, a crisis that is affecting the nation, an ordinary group of people gathered to take extraordinary steps, intervene and help their fellows.

“The association, despite the lack of resources, recognized the needs of others,” it said, adding that “such a humble act of selflessness is what we all need in these hard and trying times.”

Jarba is an agrarian reform cooperative composed of farmer-members who are holders of the certificates of land ownership awards from four nearby haciendas.
