98 Nocppo cops undergo drug test

NINETY-EIGHT police personnel assigned at the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Nocppo) were made to undergo random drug test yesterday.

NOCPPO Public Information Officer Major Edison Garcia said of the 98 policemen, three non-uniformed personnel were included in the drug test which was conducted by the Nocppo Provincial Crime Lab.

Garcia said the drug test is part of the program of the Police Regional Office 6 to sustain reformation, internal cleansing and pro-active and smart policing.

He further said that Dugang Provincial Director Colonel Romeo Baleros also would like to instill discipline and make sure that police officers assigned at Nocppo are not hooked on illegal drugs.

Most of the police officers who undergo drug test are assigned at the Intelligence Department and Drug Enforcement Unit while others were randomly picked from other departments.

Meanwhile Garcia also confirmed that random drug test were also conducted yesterday on cops at Himamaylan Police Station and San Enrique Police Station.

Drug test results could be out in two to three days.
