TWO more public schools in Bacolod City will be utilized as quarantine facilities for pregnant residents who tested positive for coronavirus.

Councilor Renecito Novero, chairman of the city's quarantine center action team, said Monday, January 24, these new facilities are the Graciano Lopez Jaena Elementary School in Barangay 31 and MG Medalla Integrated School in Barangay Pahanocoy.

Novero said they will hold a meeting Tuesday, January 25, with the quarantine team to finalize the operation of all the quarantine facilities in the city as the cases of Covid-19 are rising again.

He noted that Bacolod City has a total of 19 quarantine facilities, with some that had been closed since 2021 when the number of Covid-19 cases declined.

Novero added that they will also meet with the school principals in the city to prepare their classrooms as possible isolation rooms for Covid-19 patients, mostly those who are pregnant.

As of January 23, the Negros Occidental capital city had a total of 25,683 Covid-19 cases.

Of the number, 23,084 patients recovered, 1,783 were active cases, and 807 died.
