Disaster office: Pagasa did not issue haze alert

Teresa D. Ellera

NEGROS Occidental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office head, Dr. Zeaphard Caelian clarified Friday, September 20, that the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) did not issue a haze alert for Western Visayas.

Caelian said the information regarding the supposed haze advisory came from a “fake” account of PAGASA, which quickly became viral on social media.

He said at present they are waiting for the official advisory from the relevant government agency.

He also confirmed that the Environmental and Management Bureau (EMB) is conducting an assessment and they will soon release their results along with PAGASA’s official advisory to the Office of Civil Defense-Western Visayas.

“We are all being blundered by this ‘fake’ site from Pagasa,” Caelian said.
