FIRE victims of Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City are asking for more assistance to sustain their daily needs, an official of the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) said.

A total of 22 families need foods, kitchen wares, clothes, bedding, and pillows, DSSD head Pacita Tero said on Thursday, February 21.

“They need our help so they can sustain their daily needs, especially our assistance for children,” she said.

On Wednesday afternoon, February 20, a fire hit 15 houses that started from the house owned by Lydia Dela Cruz.

DSSD is still finalizing its data to determine the number of houses destroyed and damaged.

The affected families are temporarily staying at the village’s gymnasium.

She said Mayor Evelio Leonardia and other city officials as well as the barangay officials already offered assistance to the victims.

DSSD is accepting donations at the Government Center and through the social workers assigned in Barangay Mansilingan.

Tero disclosed that those whose houses were destroyed will receive P10,000 while those whose houses were damaged will receive P5,000. (MAP)
