Periodic consultation sought on infra projects

THE Bacolod City Council approved a resolution requesting the City Planning and Development Office and the City Engineer’s Office to seek periodic consultation and coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and other utilities as regards to infrastructure projects or programs that are presently and subsequently implemented in Bacolod.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr., was approved during the regular session of the City Council Wednesday, January 8.

Gamboa said in order for the implementation of the projects and programs of infrastructure to be equitable in terms of benefits and convenience to all stakeholders, proper consultations and coordination should be exercised.

He said the City Planning and Development Office and the City Engineer’s Office should also furnish a copy of the report to the City Council.

Gamboa noted that Section 476 (b) (4) of the Local Government Code of 1991 provides that the Planning and Development Coordinator shall monitor and evaluate the implementation of the different development programs, projects and activities in the local government unit concerned in accordance with the approved development plan.

Gamboa said that Section 477 (b) (1) of the Local Government Code of 1991 provides that the City Engineer shall initiate, initiate, review and recommend changes in policies and objectives, plans and programs, techniques and procedures, and practices in infrastructure development and public works in general of the local government unit concerned.
