Rebels shot dead Cafgu member in Moises Padilla

FOUR suspected members of a communist terrorist group (CTG) shot dead an unarmed member of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (Cafgu) in the hinterland of Moises Padilla town, Negros Occidental around 1 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2022.

Moises Padilla police chief Major Jovito Bose identified the victim as Joselito Raboy, 40, of Upper Mamballo in the town’s Barangay Quintin Remo and assigned at Delta Company of the 62nd Infantry Battalion.

Investigation showed that the victim was on his motorcycle traveling along Sitio Kabayabasan in the town’s Barangay Montilla on his way home when the suspects blocked his way and shot him.

Bose said that as of Sunday, September 25, they already have the identities of the suspects.

“The residents living nearby knew the suspects as they are always seen in the area,” he said.

Bose, however, said they did not recover any spent bullets from the crime scene while the victim’s body was already brought to the hall of Barangay Montilla.

The police official added that they are now preparing the documents for the filing of the case against the CTGs, whom he said are members of the Special Partisan Unit (Sparu).

For his part, 303rd Brigade commander Brigadier General Innocencio Pasaporte said the manner of the killing was “treacherous” because the Cafgu member was unarmed when killed

Pasaporte said they always remind the soldiers and even the Cafgu members not to be alone and always have a companion so they could defend themselves in case they are attacked.
