No ‘Hugpong’ endorsement for local bets

DAVAO City Mayor “Inday” Sara Duterte-Carpio said they will leave the local politics to the people.

In her visit to Baguio City, Duterte did not endorse any local parties during the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) campaign but urged the locals to help their senatorial bets win a set in the upcoming midterm election.

“In our campaign sorties, we don’t endorse any local candidates because we want the people to decide for themselves on who they want to lead them in the local positions, and for us in HNP, we are looking for many friends that would support our endorsed senators who will help the President,” Duterte said.

Despite of supporting different senatorial candidates from her father, Duterte explained those seeking elective positions for the upper House of Congress supported by HNP are for those committed to the administration of President Duterte.

“Because President Duterte is the President of HNP, we leave it to him on who he wants to endorse and he has that freedom and authority to select on who he wants to support for the senate for the upcoming midterm elections and it is understandable that many have filed their candidacy for the senate but only need 12 candidates,” the Davao City Mayor said.

The mayor said for its campaign strategy, HNP agreed that each senatorial bet coming from different parties will have their own strategies to promote themselves and HNP would carry them in a campaign caravan.

“As of today, we have 94 areas to go to campaign for them and of course, we maximized it because HNP has limited resources, we maximize our social media friends for us to be able to reach them and inform the people of what HNP is doing,” Duterte explained.

Bets from Timpuyog ti Baguio led by Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan and the local Lakas CMD coalition headed by former Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr. and Tony Boy Tabora was present during the Hugpong’s political sortie in the Summer Capital.
