THE Cagayan de Oro Water District (COWD) assured the public of stable water supply during the El Niño season.

Ladelle Sagrado, COWD spokesperson said, they regularly monitor water level in all its production well, as well as conduct maintenance in its facilities 24/7 to ensure that they are in good condition.

Sagrado also pointed out that their water sources never dried up in the past years, despite experiencing El Niño phenomenon.

“Pero dili gihapon magkumpyansa. We are intensifying our leak repairs so water is not wasted,” she said.

The COWD also urges consumers to save or store water in clean and covered containers in case of water interruption due to maintenance or upgrading works.

City Mayor Oscar Moreno said he was also assured of the same news by the COWD that ground surface water sources are at stable level.

Moreno said the recently implemented augmentation of water distribution to the eastern side of the city, which is sourced from Bubunawan river from the west, has given rise to greater confidence that water supply is indeed stable.

“I am also pleased to advise our people that, historically, as per COWD’s Engr Jong Batar, our above mentioned water sources have maintained stable levels even during past El Niño seasons. Let us thank the Almighty for this blessing,” he said.

The mayor, however, still urged the people to conserve water at all times.

Moreno also directed experts of COWD to coordinate with city engineers to prepare for interventions to cushion the impact of El Niño.
