ALL public and private cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbaries in Cagayan de Oro will be temporarily closed from October 29 to November 2, 2021, City Mayor Oscar Moreno ordered.

According to Moreno, he signed Executive Order 121-2021 to prevent an influx of people and mass gatherings during All Saints' and All Souls' Days.

The order is also in line with the previously released Omnibus Guidelines on the Implementation of Community Quarantine status in August 2021 by the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Emerging and Infectious Disease (IATF-EID), limiting mass gatherings to curb the rise of Covid-19 cases.

The city mayor said that while he recognizes the tradition and culture of remembering the departed loved ones during Undas, it is important to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.

Moreno told the public not to be complacent as the fight against the pandemic is not yet over. He also urged everyone to visit their loved ones buried in the cemeteries before October 29.
