Woman shot in Pinikitan linked to illegal drug trade

INVESTIGATORS are looking into illegal drug trade as possible motive in the killing of a 40-year-old woman in Basak Tangkongan, Pinikitan in Barangay Camaman-an, Cagayan de Oro City Friday, February 21.

Police said the victim, identified as Erlyn Casimero, was playing an online game inside a sari-sari store when an unidentified assailant barged in and shot her.

The victim died on the spot after she was shot in close range at the back of his head.

According to witnesses, the suspect used a black shirt to cover his face and black jacket, and fled to unknown direction after the incident.

Recovered from the crime scene was a fired cartridge case of caliber .45 pistol.

Authorities are investigating the illegal drug angle to identify and arrest the suspect.

Reports said the victim allegedly did not remit the illegal drugs proceeds.
