GetGo points available through LoyalCoin

APPSOLUTELY, the blockchain omnichannel loyalty solution, announced yesterday LoyalCoin’s partnership with Cebu Pacific’s GetGo rewards program.

With enough GetGo points, LoyalCoin users can book flights for free to anywhere in the world.

Points earned by LoyalCoin users from buying at any of its partner merchants can now be exchanged to score GetGo miles. With enough GetGo points, LoyalCoin users can now fly to any destination serviced by Cebu Pacific, said Appsolutely chief executive officer Patrick Palacios.

The partnership was revealed during the first day of the first Beach Blockchain Conference hosted by Appsolutely at the Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu.

LoyalCoin aims to replace the traditional rewards points. It is earned from one partner merchant which can be used to earn rewards or pay for products from another company as long as they are under the LoyalPlatform.

LoyalCoins are stored in a digital wallet that can also handle Philippine pesos and digital currencies. Appsolutely launched its initial coin offering (ICO) last year.

Palacios said there are about 30 partner merchants under the firm’s LoyalPlatform such as Petron, Family Mart, Bench, and Gong Cha.

Cebu Pacific is the firm’s first partner airline.

Appsolutely chief operating officer Paolo Bediones expressed excitement over the partnership, saying this would help them slowly introduce these digital assets, digital currencies, and blockchain technology to Filipinos.

Palacios said blockchain is a perfect system for rewards and miles. He pointed out that Singapore Airlines will be introducing its blockchain loyalty wallet app by the third quarter this year.

“Not a lot know about cryptocurrency and blockchain and what better way to make it mainstream than by being able to exchange your LoyalCoin into a GetGo miles. So, that’s what anyone can understand,” said Palacios.

Besides putting more value on rewards, Bediones said LoyalCoin users outside the Philippines can also trade their rewards to earn GetGo points and fly to the Philippines whenever they want.

Katryn Supapo, partner manager of Cebu Pacific’s loyalty division, said the partnership will be beneficial for the airline and the public as it will boost traveling in and out of the country.

Palacios said they aren’t limiting themselves to only partner with big companies but eventually to make their technology accessible for small enterprises. (KOC)
