THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) 7 has received a total of 74 applications for the Safety Seal Certification.

Of the total, 62 applications were from Cebu, seven were from Bohol and five were from Negros Oriental.

Twenty applications in Cebu were approved for DTI awarding on Wednesday, June 23, 2021.

“We are awarding these (safety) seals to business establishments for the safe re-opening of the economy and to re-establish consumer confidence,” DTI 7 Director Ma. Elena Arbon said in a press release.

The Safety Seal Certification is a voluntary certification scheme that affirms that an establishment is compliant with the minimum public health standards set by the government and uses or integrates its contact tracing with StaySafe.ph.

DTI issues the Safety Seal for supermarkets, groceries, convenience stores, membership shopping clubs, construction supply/hardware stores, logistics service providers, barbershops and salons, and service and repair shops.

DTI Cebu awarded its first Safety Seal to The Marketplace in Robinsons Galleria Cebu. The Marketplace is the premium supermarket brand of Robinsons Retail Holdings (RHH) Inc.

RHH operations manager Zenaida Yu said they are grateful for the safety seal.

“As a major retailer promoting health and wellness, we will continue to support and work with the DTI on its programs intended for consumer protection,” said Yu.

Other branches of The Marketplace, Robinsons Supermarkets, Robinsons Easymart and Shopwise were also cited during the ceremony and received their DTI Gold “Bagwis” Award in the same month.

A branch of Bruno’s Barbers in SM City Cebu also received its safety seal from the DTI.
