1 of missing persons in Catmon waterfall tragedy found

ONE of the three persons who were declared missing after they were swept by an unexpected gush of water at the Tinubdan Falls in Catmon, Cebu was found.

The body of Kent Jude Monterola, 17, was found in a sewage in Sitio Kansija, Barangay Flores, Catmon, 14 kilometers away from where he was swimming along with others.

He was found at 9:58 p.m. Sunday, September 26, almost 10 hours after they were swept away.

The Tinubdan Falls incident happened around 1 p.m. Sunday in Barangay Tabili, Catmon.

Authorities are still looking for the bodies of Jacel Alastra, 32, of Barangay Kalangahan, Tuburan, and her daughter, Princess, 7 years old.

The victims were among a group of 17 family members who had rented cottages for an outing at the falls, a popular tourist spot located some 15 kilometers from the town center.

The rest managed to flee the rushing waters after they were caught against large rocks or held on to vegetation riverside until help came. (GPL/LMY/SunStar Cebu)
