4 injured as 2 vessels collide off Lauis Ledge

FOUR persons were injured, while 66 passengers were safe after a fastcraft and cargo vessel collided off Lauis Ledge in Talisay City, Cebu on Thursday night, October 18.

Lieutenant Junior Grade (LTJG) Mike Encina, spokesperson of the Philippine Coast Guard-Central Visayas, said they received the information at 8:45 p.m. that FastCat M11 and a cargo vessel, M/V Ocean United, of Oceanic Shipping Lines, went on collision course.

The FastCat M11 was on its way to Tubigon, Bohol, carrying 70 passengers and 12 rolling cargoes.

Encina said those injured were brought to a hospital for treatment. They were identified as Daniel Fuentes, 38; Manuel Velso Jr., 48; and Anacleto Dico Jr., 47.

Cary Angelo Bilga, 28, was attended by the PCG-Central Visayas medical team.

Encina said they are still investigating the cause of the incident. (Herty B. Lopez)
