THE Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) has identified six suspects in the jewelry store theft incident that happened last week inside a mall in Barangay Basak.

Maj. Leo Logronio, chief of the LCPO-Investigation and Detective Management Unit (CIDMU), said they have been checking closed-circuit television footage for the identity of the thieves who stole around P800,000 worth of valuables, including jewelry.

LCPO Station 4 chief Maj. Karen Bancoleta told SunStar Cebu on Monday, Nov. 21, 2022, that four of the suspects are men, while the rest are women.

The suspects’ identities were withheld by the police, who will file a case against them once the gathering of pieces of evidence and investigation are complete.

According to Logronio, they are also profiling persons of interest who may have knowledge about or direct involvement in the theft.

As for the identified suspects, Logronio said they could not yet determine whether the suspects belong to an organized group of thieves.

He said there is a possibility that the suspects are not residents of Lapu-Lapu City.

The incident happened last Nov. 15, around 1:30 p.m. during mall hours at Ugoy Jewelry Shop in Gaisano Grand in Basak.

Logronio said that based on their monitoring, they could not identify where in the city two of the suspects are residing.

Investigators are looking into the possibility of an inside job, among other angles.
