8 arrested in drug raid inside subdivision

(UPDATED) -- A suspected pusher and six of her cohorts were arrested in a drug bust at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, in a subdivision in Barangay Lawaan 1, Talisay City, Cebu.

The suspects yielded 240 grams of white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, to the operatives of Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO).

The contraband is worth P2.8 million, a Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value.

An armed encounter ensued before the arrest happened, but no one was hit after the suspects surrendered.

Senior Inspector Alejandro Batobalanos, CPPO-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit chief, identified their target as Cheryl Villamedo Herongay, 30.

The operatives also caught Herongay's siblings Essel, 37; and Jeromy, 20; and other cohorts Teodoro Templatura Alisoso Jr., 31; Rolly Cejudo Flores, 30; Suzette Encabo Bobier, 28; and Jhon Edward Segundo Cañedo, 19.

Other evidence seized during the operation were P16,000 used in the drug bust; a .45 pistol loaded with seven bullets; a KG9 submachine gun with silencer; three magazines, 20 bullets and the suspects' P16,000 cash believed to be their proceeds in their illegal activity.

At 3 p.m., Tuesday, operatives caught Arnel Baclay de Lima, 50, in Ramona Village, Barangay Dumlog, Talisay City, Cebu.

The suspect yielded 375 grams of "shabu" with a total DDB value of P4.4 million.

Meanwhile, around noon of the same day, Cebu City Police Station 1 caught John Ryan Saballa, 18, in a drug bust in Sitio San Lorenzo, Brgy Tisa.

Operatives seized 150 grams of "shabu" worth P1.7 million from the suspect. (KAL)
