THE Christmas lighting activity near the Mandaue City Hall that was supposed to be held at 8 p.m. today, Dec. 2, 2019, was postponed due to Typhoon Tisoy.

Manolito Langub, Mandaue City Tourism Office (MCTO) acting head, said they decided to move the date of the Christmas tree lighting in anticipation to rains and heavy wind that will brought by Tisoy once it makes landfall in Cebu.

Parts of Metro Cebu and Northern Cebu are currently under Signal 1.

Langub said since there will be kids attending the activity, they decided to postpone the activity for the safety of the participants.

Though the Christmas Tree lighting will be postponed, activities at the Mandaue Food Park will still continue.

Though the food park will only operate from Friday to Sunday every week, the City government decided to allow it to operate on a Monday due to the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony.

The Christmas Tree lighting ceremony was to serve as the ceremonial opening of the food park, Langub added.

Authorities have decided to move the Mandaue City Christmas Lighting on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019 at 8 p.m. (SunStar Cebu)
