CTMS: Rerouting plan stays

THE Lapu-Lapu City Traffic Management System (CTMS) will stick to its rerouting plan for the fiesta of Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City on Friday, Feb. 15.

This decision was reached even if motorists encountered a few glitches, as the Angasil diversionary road for public utility jeepneys (PUJs) includes a lane leading to Barangay Punta Engaño that is undergoing repair.

CTMS chief Mario Napole said the contractor assured that the PUJs can use the lane on Friday before the religious foot procession starts at 4 p.m.

CTMS’s backup plan if the road repair is not yet complete is to implement a “stop-and-go” scheme on the passable lane.

Napole said they will not allow private vehicles to use the Angasil road. Motorists will be allowed to enter Mactan Proper if they are going to Punta Engaño, Maribago and Marigondon.

The rerouting of PUJs will only be implemented during the church’s activities, including the foot procession. On Saturday, Feb. 16, and Sunday, Feb. 17, the rerouting plan will only take effect in the morning.

However, they might implement the rerouting earlier if the traffic builds up. (From GCM of SuperBalita Cebu, KAL)
