A MANILA-based firm, Hino Motors, was declared the lowest bidder in the Cebu City Government’s bidding for the purchase of garbage compactor trucks worth P232.5 million.

Two other bidders, Jomara Konstrukt and RDAK Transport Equipment Inc., were disqualified by the City’s Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) due to the lack of documents.

A fourth firm, Hyundai, didn’t participate in the bidding proper while Jomara didn’t participate in the pre-bidding conference.

The City Government plans to acquire nine six-wheeler 12-cubic- meter garbage compactor trucks worth P112.5 million.

In their official bid documents, Hino Motors offered to supply nine trucks for P80 million.

The same firm also bid P89 million to supply 12 six-wheeler eight-cubic-meter garbage compactor trucks whose approved budget contract is P120 million.

Though Hino Motors was declared the lowest bidder, Ronald Malacora, the BAC chairman, said it is not the winning bidder yet. “Hino is still subject to post-qualification evaluation. We have to check all the requirements they submitted,” he explained. (From PAC of Superbalita Cebu, JKV)
