Labella pledges P50M for new CCPO building

CEBU City Mayor Edgardo Labella on Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, committed to provide P50 million for the construction of a building for the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

Labella said a program of works and estimates (Powe) has been prepared for the edifice to be built inside Camp Sotero Cabahug.

Construction of a firing range inside the police camp has also started.

“Nag-bidding na ta sa firing range. Sugod na ta’g construct so that we will have a firing range, and then there is a Powe, P50 million Powe for the construction of a Cebu City Police Office headquarters right there on Gorordo Avenue,” Labella said during the inauguration of the new Guadalupe Police Station.

Police Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferro, Police Regional Office Central Visayas (PRO 7) director, thanked Labella for the project.

“(This is a) very much welcome development...because from the very beginning - I would like to state sa atung kaigsuonan sa diri sa Sugbo that from the very start - the good mayor of Cebu, Mayor Edgar Labella, continuously sustained the support to our police force. Undoubtedly, he is really a father to us,” Ferro said.

He noted that some departments under CCPO are still holding office at the old building, which is in need of repairs.

Ferro also thanked the mayor for helping him retain his post as PRO 7 director.

Ferro was supposed to the transferred to Luzon as part of the reorganization in the Philippine National Police, but his reassignment order was cancelled by PNP Chief Camilo Cascolan.
