THIRTY-SIX persons were killed in police operations, mostly anti-illegal drugs, in at least 12 villages in Talisay City, Cebu from February to December 18, 2018.

These killings happened in the following villages:

* Barangay Lagtang

* Barangay Tabunok

* Barangay Cansojong

* Barangay San Roque

* Barangay Lawaan 3

* Barangay Maghaway

* Barangay Jaclupan

On August 21, President Rodrigo Duterte mentioned Talisay City as one of the areas where the illegal drug trade remains rampant. He also urged members of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines Visayas Island Cluster to fully enforce the law and raise the bar in governance, especially in the fight against illegal drugs.

"Gaya ng Talisay. P**** i** iyang Talisay na iyan. Mahurot mo diha hinay-hinay. (You in Talisay, you will all fall, gradually)," Duterte warned.
