Magis Eagles trump Baby Cobras in Cesafi

THE Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles dominated the Southwestern University (SWU)-Phinma Baby Cobras, winning by a wide margin, 79-57 in the 2019 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) high school basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum on Sunday, October 6, 2019.

The Magis Eagles had their way with the Baby Cobras in the second canto where they outscored their opponents, 20-7, to take a 43-21 lead into halftime. Ateneo de Cebu kept on humming in the third canto and extended their lead to 65-37 with just 10 minutes left to play.

Ateneo de Cebu now owns a 3-1 (win-loss) record but still have six more games left on their schedule.

Raffy Celis came off the bench and gave the Magis Eagles a huge lift with his 20 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Patrick Laput also added 11 markers while big man Joey Villamayor logged in 11 points.

Apart from their offensive outburst, the Magis Eagles also played fantastic defense on SWU-Phinma’s ace wingman Dezeo Villanueva, who was held down to just three points all game long. (SunStar Cebu)
