12,000 jobs up for grabs on Labor Day fair

A TOTAL of 12,532 jobs will be available for applicants during the 2018 Labor Day Job and Business Fair on May 1 and 2, 2018 at the Gaisano Mall of Davao in Davao City.

Lawyer Jason Balais, Department of Labor and Employment (Dole)-Davao assistant director, said during a press conference on Wednesday at the Ritz Hotel At Garden Oases, that 6,216 local jobs and 6,316 overseas jobs would be available

Data from Dole-Davao showed the most in-demand local jobs are masons (1,205), call center agents (605), carpenters (568), tile setters (402), rebarmen (144), sales clerks (128), service crew (113), marketing professionals (100), foremen (70), and management trainees (54).

The demand for nurses among overseas employers remain high with 2,671 vacancies.

Other most in-demand jobs outside the country include cleaners (702), sales associates (200), service crew (200), caregivers (200), waiters/waitresses (190), assistant herd managers (174), delivery drivers (160), engineers (139), and welders (125).

In terms per industry demand, most vacancies are mainly for the construction at 2,569 vacancies. This is followed by 1,847 vacancies for industries into wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, motorcycle, and personal and household goods. (Siham Jalipa Darkouch, NDDU Intern)
