Phoenix LPG leads Dacidba open

THE Phoenix LPG leads after four games in the ongoing 82nd Araw ng Dabaw Dacidba Open Bowling Tournament that will resume today at Dover Mega Lanes.

Tim Ando of the Davao City Duckpin Bowlers Association (Dacidba), in Thursday’s Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at The Annex of SM City Davao, said Phoenix LPG hit a total of 2,306 pinfalls after four games.

Rounding up the top five were CLVR-MIC (2,193), AK-Team (2,191), Life is Here (2,131) and Maf Tractor (2,120).

Veteran Nonoy Calida currently holds the highest individual single (149) and double (296) honors.

A total of 21 teams, mostly from Davao City, are entered in the bowlfest. One team from Tagum City is also competing.

Cash prizes and trophies, sponsored by the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor’s Office (SDD-CMO), await winners in the step-the-ladder finals.

Meanwhile, Asosasyon ng mga Bowlers ng Pilipinas, Inc. (Abpi) chairman of the board Emeterio R. Orteza bared that Davao City will host a national duckpin tournament on April 8 to 12.

“This used to be the annual Fedbop national tournament but since its registration was revoked, now its known as Abpi,” Orteza said. (MLSA)
