2 persons nabbed for selling marijuana online

POLICE operatives in Malay, Aklan arrested in Boracay Island on Monday, August 23, 2021, two persons for allegedly selling dried marijuana online.

Malay Police Chief Don Dicksie De Dios identified the suspects as Kenjie Miguel, a resident of Balabag, Malay, Aklan; and Johnbert Arabit, 20, a resident of Manocmanoc, Malay, Aklan.

The operation, which happened in front of a hotel Monday afternoon, August 23, led to the seizure of four small plastic sachets of marijuana weighing around 50 grams and two P500 bills.

"We are thankful to the support of the communities in Boracay for their help in providing information leading to the arrest of suspected criminals in this resort island," De Dios said.

Police reported that the two suspects were surprised upon learning that they transacted with a police agent.

The suspects did not resist arrest, police added.

The police said they have put the two suspects under surveillance for about two months, but the two were not included in the police watchlist.

Charges have been readied against the suspects, who are currently under the custody of the Malay police. (SunStar Philippines)
