Aklan records 21 Delta variant cases

THE Aklan Provincial Health Office (PHO) on Monday, August 23, 2021, said there are 21 confirmed Delta variant cases of Covid-19 in the Province of Aklan.

In a statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Cornelio Cuachon Jr. said the confirmed cases were reported as per the results of the whole genome sequencing released by the University of the Philippines-Philippine Genome Center.

Of the said number, five came from the town of Kalibo; three from Numancia; two cases from the towns of Banga, Ibajay, Malinao, and Madalag; and one case each from the towns of Nabas, Tangalan and Makato.

"Of the said numbers, 20 have already recovered and another one has died," Cuachon said.

The PHO, through the Provincial Epidemiology Surveillance Unit, has been conducting active surveillance and backtracking to identify the spread of the transmission. (SunStar Philippines)
