Kalibo starts registration for vaccine rollout

Jun N. Aguirre

THE local government of Kalibo has started registration of residents of its 16 barangays in anticipation of the arrival of 16,200 Covid-19 vaccines it ordered from AstraZeneca.

Kalibo Mayor Emerson Lachica said they had conducted a series of dialogues among the town’s residents. This was done in cooperation with the Municipal and Local Government Office and the Municipal Health Office.

"The basis of our vaccine rollout will be on first come first served basis. Meaning, priorities will be given to those who have already been registered," said Lachica.

Aside from the registration, the local government of Kalibo has also bought a back-up generator set for the cold storage facility inside the Municipal Health Office.

A simulation exercise for the actual vaccination has also been conducted.

The Kalibo local government has identified two sites for the vaccination rollout. These are the Pastrana Park and the Aklan Catholic College Gymnasium.

"The vaccines are intended only for the Kalibo residents, excluding those who are transients and boarders in this capital town," Lachica clarified. (SunStar Philippines)
