Mayor on PWD elevator: We have to wait

Carolyn Jane Abello

AFTER several years passed, the elevators in the overpass located at the Diversion Road that was installed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) were unable to be turned-over to the city government.

Mayor Jose Espinosa III said that DPWH was unable to turn-over numerous properties like some parts of the Iloilo Esplanade and also, the overpass at the aforementioned location.

“Wala pa ma turn-over sa aton ‘ti we have to wait,'” he added.

The overpass was inaugurated by the DPWH last 2015 and the elevators were installed to be used by the persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and pregnant women, however, the elevators were not functional.

Espinosa thought that DPWH lacks to provide payment to the contractor of the structure that resulted to hamper them to turnover.

“Ila na ‘ya nga contractor kag ila na nga project kag we will just wait for their time nga mag turn-over kag tan awon ta man,” he said.

At present, the public are not using the elevators. (SunStar Philippines)
